6 Shops You Can’t Miss in Salem, MA

Vanessa| New England+ Places

Check out a newer 2020 version of this post on my new blog: The Best Shops In Salem, MA

As I’ve mentioned in other posts, Salem, Massachusetts is a small town in New England that has a ton to offer. Halloween is an incredibly busy time in Salem and is a month long celebration! October is a great time to visit but if you are going here are 6 things you should know before you visit.

I’ve written several Salem posts this fall including…

Self Guided Hocus Pocus Tour
The Perfect Fall Day in Salem
Brush Up on History: Salem Witch Trials
Ghosts of Salem

BUT Salem has so much more to offer then witches and Halloween fun! Here are a few of my favorite regular ole’ shops in Salem. These are not listed on my Perfect Fall Day in Salem Post, linked above, you can find witch specific shops, oh and Harry Potter shops too!

Aroma Sanctum Perfumes –

5 Central Street

I love the essential oil perfumes here! I have several, my favorite are Avalon, Mermaid, and Persephone.

Witch City Wicks –

302 Essex Street

You won’t regret a visit to Witch City Wicks. I love their candles but they also offer a curated selection of books, jewelry, prints, and home décor.

Harrison’s Comics & Pop Culture –

252 Essex St

Anytime I go to Salem I stop at Harrison’s. They have a ridiculous selection of anything you can think of. I love their selection of Pop Dolls. The last time I was there I found maybe my favorite Pop figure I own, the Witch King riding a Nazgul (Yes, Lord of the Rings Nerds here).

Wicked Good Books –

215 Essex Street

I just love this bookstore! It’s an Independent bookstore that features new and used books, literary gifts, and home décor.

Ye Old Pepper Company –

122 Derby Street

The history nerd in me loves this place simply because it’s America’s oldest continuously operating candy company. That’s right, they have been making delicious confections since 1806. Home of the famous Salem Gibralter and Blackjacks, as well as a large selection of chocolates, fudges, taffies, caramels, and an array of nostalgic treats. Try the blackjacks!

New England Dog Biscuit Company –

7 Central Street

This is an adorable little pet shop that offers dog treats that our boys love! The treats are all natural and homemade right in Salem, which is very cool. Bonus: you can now purchase their biscuits and cookies online.

There ya have it! Some of my absolute favorite shops in Salem! Enjoy!

I’m a history nerd who loves nature, photography and her dogs. I travel with 2 of my 4 dogs, Thor the GSD and Loki the husky. I have an obsession with visiting National Parks and wolves. I love the UK and visit as often as I can. The boys and I are currently focused on traveling in North America and I take them with me whenever possible.

Welcome and stick around for a while!
